When I first started stamping, creating scenes with stamps was all the rage. Of course a few landscape type stamps made it into my stash, but I never used them very much. Enter another round of card making, and the decision to use as many stamps as possible.

The pre-made panther transparency seemed like the perfect fit for a scenery based card, don’t you think?

I stamped two different pine trees in two shades of green first, then created a mask with a post-it note to cover them, and stamped the mountain between them. The cat was fussy cut out of the transparency (not such an easy task) and a double layer of punched grass finished the bottom of the card.

The most time consuming step? Creating the mask, because that required cutting out each tree.

I think this is another of my favorites. I love that I’ve gotten the transparency out of my stash, and it looks lovely, too!

Today’s card goes for a faux quilting effect, with the help of washi tape and a marker.

I’m not a big fan of actually sewing on pages. It looks lovely, but too often I’ve had the stitches set too tight, and end up with perforated paper. I much prefer the ease of using a fine tip marker to achieve a visually similar look.

I started this with a piece of scrap paper cut to the size of the Big Shot die I used, and then laid strips of washi across the paper. Once the paper was filled, I put it through my Big Shot, and poof! Four adorable flowers.

I used a fine tipped india ink marker to create the faux stitching, added some buttons and baker’s twine, and a stamped sentiment, and it was done.

Pretty quick and fun card. I could do this one repeatedly.

This card has inspired much internal debate.

While assembling the card was fairly straightforward, I wasn’t sure I should use this particular pre-made piece. While the stamped image is clear and complete, the background color makes it difficult to see the details. While backing it with some gold mirror cardstock makes the piece brighter, it still doesn’t have enough contrast to make out the crane easily.

Rather than debate with myself endlessly about whether I should actually use the pre-made piece, I just kept going with the assembly process. While it’s not perfect, it’s better to use it than let it take up any more space in my mind or my craft space.

One more thing- look a little more closely at the yellow background. Do you notice anything? Maybe a few versamark stamped cranes?

Well, when you go the invisible crane route, doesn’t it make sense to carry that idea along as far as it will take you?

Sorry, my head is stuck in the 1970s. Hope you’ll forgive me!

Today’s card is all about repetition. If three giraffes are good, how about a card full of butterflies?

Super simple, and soft and pretty, don’t you think? Do you think it’s missing something? Maybe a little dimension, a little pizzazz? Me too.

How about another butterfly, stamped on vellum, with a tiny bit of stickles thrown in?

Does that jazz it up enough for you? I think I like it.

Yep. That makes me happy.
