Happy Turkey Day!

Happy Turkey Day!

Well, I suppose if you are a turkey, you’re probably not very happy today. But you sure would be delicious!

This card may be in need of a sentiment. I couldn’t decide between “Gobble, Gobble,” “Happy Turkey Day,” or “Run Away!” Which would you choose?

These are a couple of The Angel Company stamps, a few leftover scraps, and distress markers and inks. Remember, you don’t have to get complicated to create a perfectly acceptable card.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you have a day filled with things to be thankful for.

Watercolor-style Flowers

Watercolor-style Flowers

One of the fun things you can do with distress markers is use them to create a watercolor effect with your stamps.

You begin by coloring the stamp surface with the brush end of the marker, give it a quick, indirect spritz with a mini mister, and then stamp onto a smooth surface.

By varying the amount of water you spritz on the stamp after you color it, you can get a variety of images, from a very impressionistic style to the ink just barely moving beyond the image edge. You can see the different styles below.

The technique is really that simple. Give it a try, and see what you come up with. It’s a fun technique to play with.

One Last Pun

One Last Pun

This is the last one for the month, I promise.

This card took advantage of a few scraps of paper to give the stamped image a visual base. A quick stamped sentiment, and it’s done. (Did anyone get the Doctor Who reference?)

I think I’m about punned out for the month. We’ll get back to our regularly scheduled cards tomorrow.

Most of these items are no longer available, but you can try these substitutes from Amazon: (affiliate link)

I’m just going to leave this here. Please forgive me.

(You could use this as a gift card holder for movies or a trip or a concert. If you’re not afraid of the puns.)

Pun Wrestling

Pun Wrestling

I’ve got a terrible pun just trying to escape, but it’s really not working yet. So, to tide you over until that pun decides to cooperate, we’ve got a boring, average, everyday pun for you.

In case you haven’t noticed, this is the same design as yesterday, just with a different image and sentiment. The thing about decent designs is that you can use them over and over again. There’s no reason to reinvent the wheel every time you sit down to make a card or a scrapbook page. Use the designs that you love, and that work for you, as often as you want. You’ll be able to make pages and cards so much quicker that way.
