No Excuse Scrapbooking is a website dedicated to the beginning and/or stalled scrapbooker. After hearing “I wish I could scrapbook,” with attendant excuses/reasons for why the speaker couldn’t scrapbook one too many times, I decided to take the excuse making out of scrapbooking.
If you REALLY want to scrapbook, I can help get you moving, and hold your hand as you find your way into the wonderful world of scrapbooking.
Each week we’ll be doing some thinking about the why’s and how’s of scrapbooking, and then we’ll take action and turn those ideas into pages.
My name’s Heather Dubarry, and I’ve walked this road myself. I started out as a rubber art stamper in 1990, and when my children came along, decided to begin scrapbooking. The closest scrapbook store was 45 minutes away, and when I took their beginning journaling class, all they did was read from a book. There was no teaching involved.
So I read lots of magazines and books. After awhile it seemed like I was reading the same manual over and over again. Organize your photos. Use these (poorly explained) design principles. Write something. Not exactly inspiring or useful information.
Luckily I stumbled upon the magazine Simple Scrapbooks, which I loved for its philosophy, and that led me to Big Picture Classes. Between Cathy Zielske’s Design Your Life class, Stacy Julian’s Library of Memories course, and Lain Ehmann’s Layout A Day challenge, I finally hit my stride and became the prolific and passionate scrapbooker I am today.
For me scrapbooking is not just a hobby, it’s a way of life. Let me share my philosophy with you, and you will have your stories told, your photos cherished, and no more excuses.
